Purpose of Venaseal
Venaseal is performed to close off and treat the veins that cause superficial venous reflux. It is specifically designed to address the saphenous veins, which are often the underlying cause of varicose veins. By sealing these veins, Venaseal redirects blood flow to healthier veins, improving symptoms and cosmetic appearance.
Procedure
During Venaseal, a small catheter is inserted into the affected vein through a needle stick. The catheter delivers a medical adhesive directly into the vein. The adhesive seals the vein shut, preventing blood from flowing through it. The procedure is guided by ultrasound imaging to ensure precise delivery of the adhesive.

Venaseal is performed under local anesthesia for your comfort.
Recovery
After Venaseal, you can generally resume your normal activities immediately. There is no need for post-procedure compression stockings or restriction in physical activity, although your vascular surgeon may advise you to avoid strenuous exercise for a short period of time.
