Follow Up
After the procedure, Dr. Parikh will review your ultrasound images with the vascular technician. As a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI), Dr. Parikh has expert training in the interpretation of Duplex Venous Ultrasound. Dr. Parikh will then review the results with you to discuss any necessary next steps, such as additional testing or treatment options when indicated.

Duplex Venous Ultrasound
Duplex Venous Ultrasound provides detailed information about the structure and blood flow within the veins, aiding in the diagnosis of conditions such as venous insufficiency or venous reflux and deep vein thrombosis (DVT). Based on your initial consultation with Dr. Parikh, it may be recommended that you have a Duplex Venous Ultrasound, which is conveniently offered on-site in our office. This non-invasive imaging technique is commonly used to evaluate the venous system of the lower extremity to diagnose venous disorders within the legs.

Purpose
DVU is performed to assess the health and functionality of your leg veins. It can help diagnose conditions such as varicose veins, venous insufficiency, and deep venous thrombosis (DVT).
Preparation
In most cases, no special preparation is needed for a Duplex Venous Ultrasound. You may be asked to wear loose-fitting clothing that allows easy access to your legs. It’s also a good idea to inform the technician if you are currently taking any blood-thinning medications.
Duration
The procedure usually takes about 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the extent of the examination and the complexity of your case.
